Indian Laurel Fig
Indian Laurel Fig
Ficus microcarpa nitida
The Indian Laurel Fig is the iconic sidewalk or street tree of Southern California and beyond. This moderate growing tree can be trained as a large hedge or screen or as a standard, rounded canopy shade tree. The foliage is lush, dense and dark green which contrasts well against the light gray colored bark. Small green fruits to 1/2 inch in spring are less prominent when tree is pruned or shaped. Tree roots can be aggressive with age so please provide ample room for them grow. This tree does best in frost free locations. This is perhaps the most beautiful evergreen shade tree.
