Garcinia humilis
Achacha trees, also known as Achachairu and Bolivian mangosteen, are are related to the mangosteen. These slow growing trees are covered with leaves that have a pink to reddish hue when young, becoming more yellowish-green with maturity. The trees themselves look similar to mango trees. These fruits are tangy and refreshing with a delicate subtle sweetness having a fine balance between sweetness and acidity, producing an unusual taste sensation. Mature fruits are yellowish orange when ripe. Health benefits include high levels high levels of Vitamin C, Potassium as well as Vitamin B, Beta Carotine, arginine and other healthy minerals. Fruit should be picked mature as it does not ripen further on storage.
