What should you be doing for beautiful #crapemyrtles? Hint: it's not necessary to prune them! Instead, focus on these care tips from the #MonroviaPlants blog:🌱 Lightly fertilize in early spring before growth emerges. Be sure to follow package directions to avoid overfertilizing and encouraging more foliage than flowers.💦 Water after fertilizing, more often in the first year, and anytime there is less than an inch per week of natural rainfall. After five years of growth, your plant will be more drought-resistant.✂ If you do need to prune for size or to remove damage, avoid doing so in late fall. They designed it to be flexible to the plants you'd like to use, or come in and ask us for our suggestions! 1️⃣ Use a large, silvery succulent or other foliage plant for the "thriller" in the middle. 2️⃣ Fill in more silvery foliage in a contrasting form (think: rounded leaves like Eucalyptus if you used a spiky succulent like Agave for the first plant).3️⃣ Now add more contrast with another filler in rich, rosy red. A sedum might work well here!4️⃣ Finally, add a spiller with more rich red blooms, like a bougainvillea.
