Tree Power Shade Tree Rebate Program
The Tree Power Shade Tree Rebate program is an energy savings incentive program offered to Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) customers. RPU customers are eligible for $125 in rebates per year when they purchase qualifying shade trees and standard sized fruit trees (dwarf trees are not eligible) from Louie’s Nursery or any other participating garden center.
Starting March through June 30th, RPU customers may also bring in their March RPU utility bill to receive a free SHADE or FRUIT tree (up to $25 in value). Larger trees can also be purchased with the $25 being applied towards the total purchase price.
Tree Power Program Qualifying Trees
More details of the Tree Power program are indicated below.
Riverside Public Utilities will issue a bill credit for the purchase of up to five qualifying shade trees or standard sized fruit trees per year. Maximum rebate amount per tree is $25. However, the rebate will not exceed the purchase price of the tree.
Sales tax, installation, delivery and other associated costs will not be considered part of the total purchase price.

Most shade trees and standard sized fruit trees will qualify for the program. Dwarf sized fruit trees, shrubs and palm trees do not qualify.

Program is subject to fund availability and may be cancelled at any time.
Customers must fulfill all program-specific and general RPU program guidelines to be eligible for incentives.
The level of incentive is $25 per tree for the purchase of up to five qualifying trees per electric account, per calendar year. Rebate amount cannot exceed the purchase price of the tree.
Only specific species of trees qualify for this program. Trees are subject to approval by RPU.
Qualifying trees must be purchased from a City of Riverside merchant, and planted within 14 days of purchase at customer’s service address.
